OPTIMIS Optical Misfeed Monitor Automatically detects misfeeds caused by: Feed Slippage Material Buckling Pilot Release Timing Improper Strip Alignment OptimisTM is the most advanced and automatic press misfeed detector available. Unlike other monitors that utilize mechanical pilots and pre- programmed timing windows, the Optimis uses infrared sensors located along the strip and an encoder input to continually monitor feed progression throughout the entire machine cycle. This patented monitoring technique provides the earliest detection of an improper strip feed and helps prevent tooling damage. The Optimis system reduces set-up time, improves part quality and minimizes downtime by identifying feed slippage, stock buckling and other problems that occur when the strip is not in proper position.

A machine mounted encoder provides precise position input from the press of feed. The Optimis was designed to interface with Incremental, Grey Scale, or Binary type encoders.

Optimis Monitor
Model OMD-200 misfeed detector includes (1) press interlock cable and (2) sensor/monitor interface cables.

Encoder
One encoder is required per system. Select standard duty for coupling to feed mechanism or heavy duty for installations requiring timing belts.
