Quality standards are duplicated with the automatic Job Data Control circuitry. Optimum tonnage values and alarm limits for 100 previous production runs are stored in memory and downloaded to the Loadgard. This feature can be used at any stage of production to recall previous conditions or store new job data. Die changeover time is greatly reduced with this built-in JDC feature.

Plant-wide Production Monitoring

Using Helm FirstMate software, the Loadgard interfaces with remote computers for two-way communication on alarm status, production counts and machine downtime rates. Load signatures from each forged part are quickly captured and compared while detailed printouts help you build a comprehensive data base for tooling and maintenance programs.

Strain Gain Transducers

To obtain the tonnage measurement, one HT-400 load is mounted to each upright for measuring vertical strain between the press crown and bed. A full Wheatstone 350 ohm bridge circuit of strain gages is used to assure linear operation and stability at any tonnage. The HT-400 sensor is designed to operate under extreme temperatures typically found in forging operations. All sensors are manufactured to within 1% and have a lifetime guarantee.

Helm field technicians provide complete turnkey installation and calibration service on any size forging machine. Dynamic press and die evaluations for determining proper machine tonnage and identifying conditions such as loose tie rods, ram parallelism, and worn bearings are also available.
